Be that as it may, the medical attendants concentrate about keeping up their wellbeing in their instructional classes, yet frequently they can't distinguish the side effects happening to them and in the end this may prompt self destruction (Mikkonen, Kyngs Kriinen 2015). It appears that psychological instability like despondency and other related manifestations is a subject of disgrace for medical attendants as they treat patients to recuperate from sickness and by not tending to this, it could straightforwardly influence the calling and work, which they convey (Parahoo, 2014). For this situation based investigation as one attendant is demonstrating the side effects of gloom and self-destructive inclination, there is an issue of obligation from seeing medical attendant inside the code of calling and moral ramifications identifying with this (McCarthy Gastmans, 2015). Dissecting the contextual analysis circumstance and making proper proposal, this exposition will address the co-attendants prompt activity and duty, the manner in which the downturn influences on the work, the explanations behind fitting this circumstance in the segments of the Australian Registered Nurse Standards for Practice and the conceivable moral association in this unique situation (Vynckier et al., 2015). The burdensome attendant could be less propelled in her work and the downturn could influence her work in a huge degree. The calling is by all accounts trying for nurture who is enduring in sorrow as in this calling one needs to deal with numerous obligations. This calling is identified with life care administrations. The prosperity and i nspirational mentalities of the attendants and medicinal services experts encourages the patients adequately to recoup from ailment. Be that as it may, if an attendant continually presents burdensome perspectives it would influence the states of mind of the patients, which in the end impact his physical wellbeing, as it is realized that recuperation relies on the psychological well-being as well. The burdensome indications and mentalities of the nursing experts could cause her to disregard the timetables of applied prescription for the patients, as one of the significant attributes of discouragement is nervousness. The night move is by all accounts extremely hard for them who endure in gloom, as rest issue is the basic result of sorrow. Indeed, even the burdensome medical caretaker can't give full fixation on her work and any sort of harm or mishap could occur in her workplace (Stuart, 2014). The life is on the hand of attendants. The downturn prompts debilitation in the nursing cal ling and different medical caretakers could without much of a stretch be impacted by it. Nonetheless, as the downturn rate is high among nurture, the impacting variables could regularly influence the others. The medical caretaker experiencing wretchedness could show any sort of handicap in her calling. It may that she was unable to deal with the upsetting condition, which is exceptionally regular in the calling. The burdensome medical caretaker could lose the profitability of her work and that will legitimately influence the consideration and administration, which she hopes to give. It is a piece of obligation of the seeing attendant to focus on other co-medical caretakers issues and offer assistance (Simmonds, 2013). The seeing attendant even causes the victim to distinguish the components behind her downturn by giving her legitimate advising and clinical assistance. In the event that her explanation of sadness has been advanced from her word related dangers, the seeing medical caretaker ought to recommend her to attempt some pressure the board program whenever offered by the emergency clinic or any private establishment. Something else, the downturn could legitimately influence the nature of care-driven help and the limits of training of the activity. It is the duty of the seeing medical attendant to give important data and way out with respect to sorrow to the co-nurture (Masters, 2015). Something else, the downturn could harm crafted by a nursing proficient and it would influence the workplace where discouraged medical caretaker and seeing attendant both are included. As per the Registered Nurse Standards for Practice in Australia, the enlisted medical caretakers will undoubtedly give clinical consideration to any wellbeing related incapacity to any individual, family, gathering, network, associates and other human services proficient (O'connell, Gardner Coyer, 2014). This can be both physical and mental. In this specific case, as the seeing medical caretaker is watching the indications of despondency to a co-nurture, the seeing attendant has the obligation to react to the issue. Nursing isn't just about giving treatment to the patients who has gone to a medicinal services; rather it is likewise thinking about the colleagues. The motivation behind this standard is that. It imparts the domain of nursing exercise inside and outside the calling. Indeed, even it is distributed all the more critically for the general advantage of the Australian people group, which comprises of differing scope of culture and language gatherings (Cashin et. al, 2015). As the Australian Government is exceptionally intrigued to give social insurance administration to each person in Australia regardless of economy, culture, sexual orientation or language, the principles are formed that way. It focused on the prosperity of multicultural populace of the nation. In the event that the seeing medical caretaker controls the co-attendant to beat discouragement as opposed to neglecting the issue, it will add to the communitys government assistance. The guidelines for training concede and convey it to the medical caretaker, which is followed carefully in Australia (Jeffery et. al, 2014). In particular, in Standard 3, titled as Maintains the Capacity for Practice, expresses that the duty of an enlisted nurture is to guarantee her security and the capability for training first and afterward react when there is need for worry about the ability of training of other human services experts (Ossenberg, Henderson Dalton, 2015). Enrolled medical attendant ought to add to the expert advancement of herself just as the development of others. They not just take care of her wellbeing and expert advancement, yet in addition think about and respond the equivalent for different experts practically speaking (Nursingmidwiferyboard.gov.au, 2017). Hence, for this situation, as the seeing medical caretaker is watching the opportunity of inability of training in a co-nurture because of sorrow and other deadly inclinations and which at last influences the activity job of the attendant, the seeing medical attendant should investigate the issue with extraordinary concern (Cashin et. al, 2017). As the downturn and related issues could influence crafted by a nursing proficient and cause extraordinary hindrance to the advancement in her calling, it is a genuine matter of concern. The explanation behind picking this particular standard in this setting is specific to the circumstance. The prompt activity of the seeing medical caretaker needs to react to another co-attendants issue and give vital data about psychological wellness issue to the victim. On the off chance that the seeing medical attendant reacts to the particular issue of the partner nurture, it will improve the limit of the work conveyed and tolerant consideration and that at last assistance the prosperity of the Australian people group (O'connell, Gardner Coyer, 2014). Medical caretakers need to confront various moral issues in their administration. In the current contextual analysis, the medical caretaker was confronted with the moral test of whether to illuminate different individuals regarding the group. Gloom is an under-evaluated ailment. The attendant should manage care with such patient. It is the moral obligation of a medical attendant to consider the prosperity of the individuals both truly and mentally (Cashin et. al, 2017). Nonetheless, it is additionally the obligation of a medical attendant to educate the senior specialists about the state of the patient. Medical caretaker faces with the moral situation of acquiring assent from the victim nurture. For the most part, the victim nurture feels reluctant to educate others about the condition (Nursingmidwiferyboard.gov.au, 2017). Another moral ramifications is that the victim medical attendant should be cautious about his own prosperity. In the nursing preparing, there is where the psychological well-being issues are tended to, be that as it may, the victim medical caretaker could disregard this and can't recognize this. Indeed, even she could be modest as individuals confronting such issues are looked

Teaching in Public Schools Differs from Private Schools
Educating in Public Schools Differs from Private Schools School decision is an intriguing issue concerning instruction particularly with regards to open versus non-public schools. How guardians decide to instruct their youngsters is exceptionally discussed, yet instructors have alternatives with regards to picking a vocation? As an educator, getting your first occupation isn't in every case simple. In any case, you should guarantee that the schools strategic vision line up with your own way of thinking. Understand that educating in government funded schools differs from instructing in non-public schools. Both offer the chance to work with youngsters regularly, yet every ha their points of interest and impediments. Instructing is an extremely serious field, and on occasion it appears as though there are a greater number of educators than there are occupations accessible. Imminent educators going after a job in a tuition based school should know the contrasts among open and non-public schools that will affect how they carry out their responsibility. Understanding those distinctions is significant on the off chance that you have an either/or opportunity. At last, you need to instruct at a spot where you are agreeable, that will bolster you as both an instructor and an individual, and that will give you the best chance to have any kind of effect in the lives of your understudies. Here we inspect some significant contrasts among open and tuition based schools with regards to instructing. Spending plan The spending plan of a non-public school commonly originates from a blend of educational cost and raising money. This implies the general spending plan of a school is subject to what number of understudies are enlisted and the general abundance of the givers who bolster it. This can be trying for more up to date tuition based schools and a general favorable position for a built up non-public school that have fruitful graduated class ready to help the school. The greater part of the financial plan of a government funded school is driven by neighborhood property assessments and state training help. Schools additionally get some government cash to help bureaucratic projects. Some government funded schools are additionally blessed to have nearby organizations or people who bolster them through gifts, however this isn't the standard. The financial plan for government funded schools is normally attached to their stateââ¬â¢s monetary status. At the point when a state experiences a monetary hardship schools, get less cash than they regularly would. This frequently powers school managers to make troublesome cuts. Confirmation Government funded schools require at least a bachelorââ¬â¢s qualification and an instructing testament to be an affirmed educator. These prerequisites are set by the state; while necessities for non-public schools are set by their individual administering sheets. Most non-public schools regularly follow indistinguishable prerequisites from government funded schools. Nonetheless, there are a couple of tuition based schools that don't require a showing authentication and now and again may employ educators without a particular degree. There are likewise tuition based schools that lone hope to employ instructors who hold a propelled degree. Educational plan and Assessment For government funded schools, the educational program is generally determined by state-commanded goals and for most states will before long be driven by the Common Core State Standards. Singular locale may likewise have extra goals dependent on their individual network needs. These state ordered destinations additionally drive the state government sanctioned testing that every state funded school are required to give. State and governments affect the tuition based school educational program. Non-public schools can basically create and actualize their own educational program and evaluations. One of the significant contrasts is that tuition based schools may join strict educational program into their schools while state funded schools can't. Most non-public schools are established dependent on strict standards, so this permits them to influence their understudies with their convictions. Other non-public schools may decide to concentrate more on a particular zone, for example, math or science. For this situation, their educational program will concentrate more on those particular regions, though a government funded school is progressively adjusted in their methodology. Control The familiar axiom goes that children will be kids. This is valid for both open and tuition based schools. There will be discipline issues in either case. State funded schools regularly have progressively significant order issues, for example, brutality and medications than tuition based schools do. State funded school heads invest most of their energy taking care of understudy discipline issues. Non-public schools will in general have increasingly parental help which frequently prompts less control issues. They additionally have more adaptability than state funded schools with regards to expelling an understudy from a homeroom or expelling them from school by and large. State funded schools are required to take each understudy who lives in their area. A tuition based school can basically cut off their association with an understudy who persistently will not follow their normal arrangements and systems. Decent variety A constraining element for tuition based schools is their absence of assorted variety. Government funded schools are considerably more assorted than tuition based schools in numerous territories including ethnicity, financial status, understudy needs, and scholarly ranges. In all actuality going to a tuition based school cost an excess of cash for most Americans to send their youngsters as well. This factor alone will in general cutoff assorted variety inside a tuition based school. Actually most of the populace in non-public schools is comprised of understudies who are from upper-white collar class Caucasian families. Enlistment Government funded schools are required to take each understudy regardless of their handicap, scholastic level, religion, ethnicity, financial status, and so forth. This can likewise adversy affect class size particularly in years where financial plans are meager. It isn't extraordinary for there to be 30-40 understudies in a solitary study hall in a government funded school. Tuition based schools control their enlistment. This permits them to keep class estimates in a perfect 15-18 understudy run. Controlling enlistment additionally is valuable for educators in that the general scope of where understudies are scholastically are a lot nearer than a regular state funded school study hall. This is a significant advantage for the two understudies and instructors in non-public schools. Parental Support In state funded schools, the measure of parental help for the school changes. It is regularly reliant upon the network where the school is found. Sadly, there are networks that don't esteem training and just send their children to class since it is a necessity or in light of the fact that they consider it free looking after children. There are likewise numerous government funded school networks who esteem training and offer enormous help. Those state funded schools with low help give an alternate arrangement of difficulties than those with high parental help. Non-public schools quite often have colossal parental help. All things considered, they are paying for their childââ¬â¢s instruction, and when cash is traded, there is an implicit assurance that they mean to be engaged with their childââ¬â¢s training. Parental association is significant in the general scholastic development and advancement of a kid. It likewise makes a teacherââ¬â¢s work simpler over the long haul. Pay An amazing actuality is that government funded teachers are commonly paid more than non-public school instructors. Anyway this depends on the individual school itself, so it may not really be the situation. Some non-public schools may likewise offer advantages that government funded schools do excluding educational cost for advanced education, lodging, or suppers. One explanation that government funded teachers are normally paid more is on the grounds that most non-public schools don't have a teacherââ¬â¢s association. Instructing associations contend energetically for their individuals to be genuinely redressed. Without these solid association ties, it is hard for tuition based school instructors to haggle for better compensation. End There are numerous upsides and downsides an educator must weigh with regards to deciding to instruct in open versus tuition based school. It at last boils down to singular inclination and solace level. A few instructors would lean toward the test of being an educator in a battling downtown school and others would want to educate in a princely rural school. Actually you can have an effect regardless of where you educate.

Heres What no One Tells You About Managing Stress as a Writer
Heres What no One Tells You About Managing Stress as a Writer Your deadlines are looming and your creative spark isnt catching fire. Youve poured more cups of coffee than anyone should reasonably drink and youre trying every trick in the book to induce the muse. Your thoughts run in circles trying to find the right words to type but youve deleted almost as many lines as youve typed.Like any job, writing for a living has its stressful moments. For the typical observer looking at the writing profession from the outside, its assumed that you spend your mornings at the coffee shop, wearing a fedora (okay, maybe thats a stereotype), chatting with the locals and languidly spending hours to find the perfect word for your eager audience. The truth, however, is quite different from that scenario. The writers who make a living at writing have deadlines and word count requirements that often require hundreds of words per hour and constant creativity, even if you only managed a few hours sleep last night. And thats in addition to the research that goes into what is written before words are even put on the page.Creativity is exhaustingWhile writers who do it as a hobby write whenever the mood hits or the muse visits, professional writers must write dailyâ"regardless of how creative they feel. One of the great advantages to writing for a living is to work in your favorite place and set your own hours, but the daily need for boundless creativity also has its drawbacks, too. Especially for writers who have solid deadlines that must be met and several projects going at once.Professional writers often have solid deadlines and several projects going at once. One of my favorite quotes from Stephen King, in his part-memoir/part-instruction manual, On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft, is this one:There is a muse, but hes not going to come fluttering down into your writing room and scatter creative fairy-dust all over your typewriter or computer. He lives in the ground. Hes a basement kind of guy. You have to descend to his level, and once you get down there you have to furnish an apartment for him to live in. You have to do all the grunt labor, in other words, while the muse sits and smokes cigars and admires his bowling trophies and pretends to ignore you. Do you think its fair? I think its fair. He may not be much to look at, that muse-guy, and he may not be much of a conversationalist, but hes got inspiration. Its right that you should do all the work and burn all the mid-night oil, because the guy with the cigar and the little wings has got a bag of magic. Theres stuff in there that can change your life. Believe me, I know.Stephen King, On Writing: A Memoir of the CraftWhen I read that passage, I understand exactly what King is talking about, especially when he refers to grunt labor. In my own words (which are far less poetic than Kings), I feel he is referring to the work that must go into writing before the magic moments happen. Particularly, its important for a professional writer to understand that it wont be magica l every time you write. The magic will happen and youll eventually write an amazing passage that people talk about for years to come. But you will have written hundreds of non-magical passages before getting to that point. Its just how it works. Most of the time while writing, it will be difficult to find the right words and will be hard to be creative when your mind is focused on the mundane details of life. Bills due, errands to run, children and spouse needing attentionâ"the constant tug-of-war that happens in a writers mind between creativity and routine can be distracting. Sometimes, it can even be detrimental in the process of meeting multiple deadlines.Your daemon or genius is flightyIn a TedTalk aimed at artists in general, especially writers, Eat, Pray, Love author Elizabeth Gilbert speaks of a time in Ancient Greece and Rome when people believed that creativity was a divine entity, separate from the artist himself or herself. In Greece, it was referred to as a daemon and i n Rome, it was called a genius. In both cases, it was something outside of the artistâ"a supernatural thing living in the walls that would visit the artist to ensure those magic moments happen. And there might be things the artist could do to summon the genius, but there was never a guarantee the flighty thing would show up. Whether or not this happened, however, was beyond the artists control.Further in the discussion, Gilbert speaks of the changes that occurred with rational humanism and the belief that all the magical moments in art were a direct result of something the artist did or didnt do. She notes that this belief, which places all of the burden of creativity on the shoulders of the writer or artist, can produce extreme anxiety and a sense of failure in the inevitable moments when it doesnt happen. It can likewise produce extreme ego.Gilbert ends her talk wishing that artists (including writers) would return to the ancient understanding of genius to avoid the pressure that is placed on them in the creative cycle. In such, she reiterates Stephen Kings point that the magical moments wont always be there, and thats okay. The trick is to keep writing, to keep working, and eventuallyâ"your creative genius will pay a visit. But only on his or her own time schedule. Its a visit that cant be forced, even if youre wearing a fedora in a coffee shop.Uninterrupted time alone is crucialAnother method Ive observed thats useful in managing stress as a writer is to insist on some alone time to work and protect it fiercely. As a mother of three children, this becomes especially hard over school holidays and breaksâ"days that keep them running in and out of my office with various requests or complaints. Even when they insist, Ill be quiet, simply having another person in the room is distracting for me as a writer, which often makes the whole coffee shop routine difficult. Ive found very few coffee shops without a lot of other customers present. This insistence on alo ne time includes social media. I find that if I have notifications turned on in my social media or personal email accounts, the simple interruption of someone else seeking my attention is enough to completely destroy whatever magic moment I might have been achieving. Maybe this means that my genius is an introvert, I dont know, but I do know it slows down my writing process significantly when I allow these distractions to be present.Your preferred writing environment might be different than mine. However, my guess is that many professional writers share the need to fiercely protect their alone time to achieve their writing goals for the day. While its possible to write surrounded by noise and distractions, if youre like me, your best work will never come from that environment.A writers best work will never come from a loud, distracting environment.Read when youre not writingAnother way Ive found to cope with stress as a writer is to read. Reading is a relaxing activity for most peop le, but even more so for professional writers. Beyond the relaxing aspect of it, it is highly useful in building your skills (and therefore, your confidence) as a writer. The more you read, the more you are able to take in writing skills such as dialogue, description, and characterizationâ"particularly if you are reading an amazing writer who has much to teach you.Heres how King puts it:You have to read widely, constantly refining (and redefining) your own work as you do so. Its hard for me to believe that people who read very little (or not at all in some cases) should presume to write and expect people to like what they have written, but I know its true. If I had a nickel for every person who ever told me he/she wanted to become a writer but didnt have time to read, I could buy myself a pretty good steak dinner. Can I be blunt on this subject? If you dont have the time to read, you dont have the time (or the tools) to write. Simple as that.Reading is the creative center of a writ ers life. I take a book with me everywhere I go, and find there are all sorts of opportunities to dip in ⦠Reading at meals is considered rude in polite society, but if you expect to succeed as a writer, rudeness should be the second-to-least of your concerns. The least of all should be polite society and what it expects. If you intend to write as truthfully as you can, your days as a member of polite society are numbered anyway.Stephen King, On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft

Muhammad s Influence On Islam - 1378 Words
In the year wchih followed the Revelation, Muhammad began his public preaching. The first converts include his wife ââ¬â Khadija, cousin ââ¬â Ali, other people closely related to him, and eventually more people from his own clan of Hashim. At first there was no sign of opposition against Muhammadââ¬â¢s teaching, but as it become more widespread in Mecca, people start seeing it as a threat to the cityââ¬â¢s stability. Muhammadââ¬â¢s message about a single, all-powerful deity negates the legitimacy of the haram and its idols, puting the holy and neutral status of the site at risk. This theological clash continued to put pressure on Muhammad and his followers. However, they receive protection because of the solidity of the clan system. It had been Abu Talib, Muhammadââ¬â¢s uncle, who united the Hashim in support of Muhammad and protected him for his Meccan opposition. In 619, both Khadija and Abu Thalib, two of Muhammadââ¬â¢s most important protecters passed away and his opposition became even more bold and determined to pressure Muhammad. It is important to remember that the previous early success of the spread of Islam in Mecca could only be achieved because of Muhammadââ¬â¢s allegience and close relationship with these two important Meccan figures. In other words, Muhammadââ¬â¢s kinship paved the way for his teachings to be disemminated within the Meccan society. What techniques are used in Shrek Essay Example
What techniques are used in Shrek Essay Example What techniques are used in Shrek Paper What techniques are used in Shrek Paper For this piece of coursework I will be evaluating the Technique that is used in the movie trailer of Shrek 2 to attract its target audience. The trailers are ways of launching a new film into market place.Tralier are mainly used for advertising. They contain short clip from the feature film which attract the target audience. The trailer is usually 2 to 3 minutes. Trailer are short because they are only effective for only short period of time as it losses impact. The main jobs of film trailer advertising to show the story in short and persuade the audience to buy film. From the trailer the audience are able to tell what genre (comedy, action, horror, and thriller) and the narrative of film is. From the trailer audience will know who is star of the film are who is the director of film. Films are also promoted in magazines, Newspaper, Internet and posters.Ã A target audience can depend on age and gender and will contain sound and images that will appeal to that target audience. Trailers are extremely important marketing tool, along with posters as they encourage many people to watch or rent film. Trailer must have many qualities to attract its target audience. It must have a great amount of information in a short amount of time. The target audience in Shrek 2 is all age group because this film can be enjoyed by anyone. Shrek is animated film created by DreamWorks and brought to life by state of the art 3d animation. The music used in the film is also different to other such productions. Instead of the characters bursting in to song all the time, the songs are played by an external person and reflect the mood of the characters in a particular scene. Shrek 2 Film is featured be all star cast providing the voice and a whole host of class new characters in the host of class new character in the enchanting Shrek story. The film has a large intake of digital animation, and has a long list of different animating techniques. Shrek 2 is a computer animated film. The Shrek 2 trailer use various technique to target it audience. One of the techniques used in Shrek 2 trailer is camera angel. Good camera angel is very import ant in any films to attract their target audience. Camera makes audience to view the film from different angel camera shot can make audience to look close-up view of someone or something. Shrek 2 have eye catching colour that will attract most of children. Shrek 2 film trailer highly concentrates on children due to the mixtures of colours and the cartoon characters, it also focus on young adults and adults themselves due to the hummer and animation with star voice throw out the hole movie. The opening of the trailer immediately catches the audience eye as the camera focuses on the words Far Far Away which sit on amounting top, as Shrek, Fiona and Donkey travel by a horse drawn carriage for 700 miles to reach the kingdom of princess Fiona parents . Here Adult humour is shown because the board should traditionally say Hollywood not Far Far away this immediately makes us smile. After the opening clips of the kingdom there is a flash and DreamWorks appears, here a voiceover is used. The voice over is a device that is intended to guide you to understand the film , using the right language and voice tones, to dramatise as much as possible without over hyping. The voice which appears as a standard feature in trailer, build the sense of mystery and suspense. The voice over in Shrek 2 says, DreamWorks invites you to a land of fairytales and then fairytale characters appear like the Pinocchio, ginger bread man, and the three piglets. A voiceover is used to link shots and to increase childrens understandings of what is going to happen in the film. Shrek 2 is aimed at both kids and families. Some scenes in the film were aimed at a specific target audience. For example, the scene where Fairy Godmother makes a performance on the stage and is wearing a red dress and lies down on the piano. There were some scenes that were suitable for kids to watch. For example, the scene where Shrek and other characters found out that Pinocchio wears a thong. Overall, I think the Shrek 2 trailer was persuasive and effective because it has influenced millions of other children and adult across the world to go and watch or buy the film. This was achieved by the producers using a lot of clever and innovative camera shots, sound effects e.g. shots of action and humour. These were sufficient to make people feel and think that this was going to be a great and entertaining film. The trailer had a lot of unique selling point e.g. the actors, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, Mike Myers and John. These actors are very famous and the best in their field. This is another strong selling point of the film.

Brooklyn Bridge Construction and History
Brooklyn Bridge Construction and History Of all the engineering advances in the 1800s, the Brooklyn Bridge stands out as perhaps the most famous and most remarkable. It took more than a decade to build, cost the life of its designer, and was constantly criticized by skeptics who predicted the entire structure was going to collapse into New Yorks East River. When it opened on May 24, 1883, the world took notice and the entire U.S. celebrated. The great bridge, with its majestic stone towers and graceful steel cables, isnt just a beautiful New York City landmark. Its also a very dependable route for many thousands of daily commuters. John Roebling and His Son Washington John Roebling, an immigrant from Germany, did not invent the suspension bridge, but his work building bridges in America made him the most prominent bridge builder in the U.S. in the mid-1800s. His bridges over the Allegheny River at Pittsburgh (completed in 1860) and over the Ohio River at Cincinnati (completed 1867) were considered remarkable achievements. Roebling began dreaming of spanning the East River between New York and Brooklyn (which were then two separate cities) as early as 1857 when he drew designs for enormous towers that would hold the bridges cables. The Civil War put any such plans on hold, but in 1867 the New York State legislature chartered a company to build a bridge across the East River. Roebling was chosen as its chief engineer. Just as work was beginning on the bridge in the summer of 1869, tragedy struck. John Roebling severely injured his foot in a freak accident as he was surveying the spot where the Brooklyn tower would be built. He died of lockjaw not long after, and his son Washington Roebling, who had distinguished himself as a Union officer in the Civil War, became chief engineer of the bridge project. Challenges Met by the Brooklyn Bridge Talk of somehow bridging the East River began as early as 1800, when large bridges were essentially dreams. The advantages of having a convenient link between the two growing cities of New York and Brooklyn were obvious. But the idea was thought to be impossible because of the width of the waterway, which, despite its name, wasnââ¬â¢t really a river. The East River is actually a saltwater estuary, prone to turbulence and tidal conditions. Further complicating matters was the fact that the East River was one of the busiest waterways on earth, with hundreds of crafts of all sizes sailing on it at any time. Any bridge spanning the water would have to allow for ships to pass beneath it, meaning a very high suspension bridge was the only practical solution. And the bridge would have to be the largest bridge ever built, nearly twice the length of the famed Menai Suspension Bridge, which had heralded the age of great suspension bridges when it opened in 1826. Pioneering Efforts of the Brooklyn Bridge Perhaps the greatest innovation dictated by John Roebling was the use of steel in the construction of the bridge. Earlier suspension bridges had been built of iron, but steel would make the Brooklyn Bridge much stronger. To dig the foundations for the bridgeââ¬â¢s enormous stone towers, caissons- enormous wooden boxes with no bottoms- were sunk in the river. Compressed air was pumped into them, and men inside would dig away at the sand and rock on the river bottom. The stone towers were built atop the caissons, which sank deeper into the river bottom.Caisson work was extremely difficult, and the men doing it, called ââ¬Å"sandhogs,â⬠took great risks. Washington Roebling, who went into the caisson to oversee work, was involved in an accident and never fully recovered. An invalid after the accident, Roebling stayed in his house in Brooklyn Heights. His wife Emily, who trained herself as an engineer, would take his instructions to the bridge site every day. Rumors thus abounded that a woman was secretly the chief engineer of the bridge. Years of Construction and Rising Costs After the caissons had been sunk to the river bottom, they were filled with concrete, and the construction of the stone towers continued above. When the towers reached their ultimate height, 278 feet above high water, work began on the four enormous cables that would support the roadway. Spinning the cables between the towers began in the summer of 1877, and was finished a year and four months later. But it would take nearly another five years to suspend the roadway from the cables and have the bridge ready for traffic. The building of the bridge was always controversial, and not just because skeptics thought Roeblingââ¬â¢s design was unsafe. There were stories of political payoffs and corruption, rumors of carpet bags stuffed with cash being given to characters likeà Boss Tweed, the leader of the political machine known as Tammany Hall. In one famous case, a manufacturer of wire rope sold inferior material to the bridge company. The shady contractor, J. Lloyd Haigh, escaped prosecution. But the bad wire he sold is still in the bridge, as it couldnââ¬â¢t be removed once it was worked into the cables. Washington Roebling compensated for its presence, ensuring the inferior material wouldnââ¬â¢t affect the strength of the bridge. By the time it was finished in 1883, the bridge had cost about $15 million, more than twice what John Roebling had originally estimated. While no official figures were kept on how many men died building the bridge, it has been reasonably estimated that about 20 to 30 men perished in various accidents. The Grand Opening The grand opening for the bridge was held on May 24, 1883. Some Irish residents of New York took offense as the day happened to be the birthday of Queen Victoria, but most of the city turned out to celebrate. President Chester A. Arthur came to New York City for the event, and led a group of dignitaries who walked across the bridge. Military bands played, and cannons in the Brooklyn Navy Yard sounded salutes. A number of speakers lauded the bridge, calling it a Wonder of Science and lauding its anticipated contribution to commerce. The bridge became an instant symbol of the age. Its early years are the stuff of both tragedy and legend, and today, nearly 150 years since its completion, the bridge functions every day as a vital route for New York commuters. And while the roadway structures have been changed to accommodate automobiles, the pedestrian walkway is still a popular attraction for strollers, sightseers, and tourists.

Summary of The Tempest Drama by Shakespeare Essay
Summary of The Tempest Drama by Shakespeare - Essay Example The concept of unveiling the playââ¬â¢s events in a long continuous order dents the play. A good player needs to spell out chronological ideas but these ideas should not run as a prolonged course during the presentation (Baker 145- 150). It is advisable to initiate breaks in the play. An effective component of developing breaks in the play is using songs. The writer should have composed a simple song and made it run throughout the drama. The song should appear before the introduction of key scenes. This not only breaks the monotony in the play but also prepares the viewers for the introduction of a novel idea. Songs are also effective in emphasizing the theme of the play or in recruiting the audience to participate in the play. Audience involvement makes the play be livelier. Another effective approach is dramatizing the play and using other live performance accompaniments. This involves employing approaches such us beating of the drum or other percussion appliances in intervals. Moreover, the play may amalgamate the performance with some melodies from the background. A critical application of these apparatus can improve the live performance. Additionally, the choice of language and tone can radically develop the performance. This means the presentation of different concepts or ideas using varying tones become necessary. Some moods or themes may need to be presented using a low tone while others may demand a high tone. Similarly, some statements need to be cool while others set to depict harshness. Tonal variations sway the audienceââ¬â¢s mood making them identify with the playââ¬â¢s mood. Furthermore, the practice improves audienceââ¬â¢s attentiveness hence an effective aspect of avoiding boredom. This makes the play interesting and lively. The use of gestures is also a key component of a good play. This critical constituent entirely depends on the actors used in the play. Gestures involve the use of body idioms in speaking the desired information. This entails facial expressions and movement of body parts. Of great consideration is the correct use of these gestures because if used incorrectly, they influence negatively on the quality and usefulness of the plays. Specific expressions and movements are suitable for a particular scenario or theme. In some degrees, this should include the use of appropriate outfits and make-ups. This becomes necessary since the appearance of the performer influences audienceââ¬â¢s attitude. It is of worth noting that, gestures outweigh verbal language in communicating certain messages. Gestures naturalize message delivery hence making the play lively (Baker, 120). Importantly, there are some stylistic devices which if effectively utilized can improve the play. Firstly, humorous characters can appear in some scenes presenting the definite message. Humorous characters may involve culprits of ignorance, the misinformed group or chauvinists. These actors simply clash with basic societal ideologie s because of their compromised state. Their condition lands them into awkward and sometimes shameful encounters, which make them perplexed.

Ethics Paper Management Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Ethics Paper Management - Assignment Example The decisions concerning strategic planning and management are usually taken by the shareholders of the company or the top level executive unit (Board of Directors). These decisions are related to all resources and structure of the company. The strategic action plan has to be fundamental, stable and long lasting. For these reasons a company needs to involve in its strategy concepts like vision (where we go, what we want) and mission (who we are, what we do). Values and beliefs that are shared within the organization show additional consolidation and commitment of the unit and the staff. Different types of mission statements are issued and among all those of importance to us are the ââ¬Å"product ââ¬â service orientedâ⬠and ââ¬Å"customer ââ¬â market orientedâ⬠ones. In her ââ¬Å"Ethics Awareness Inventoryâ⬠Williams (2011) argues that to succeed in the long run a company or an individual needs to consider topics like Character (what is good to be rather than what is good to do), Obligation (duty or obligation of individuals), Results (the consequences of our actions, where good should prevail over evil) and Equity (issues related to justice, trust and honesty). Since strategic planning is done mostly by shareholders and Board of directors then ââ¬Å"is it done for their sole benefit, only?â⬠When being asked, managers make an interesting rating for the objectives of their business behavior placing customers and government at the top, followed by stockholders and employees. Clifton and Amran (2011) share that the ââ¬Å"Stakeholder Approachâ⬠is supportive in corporate practices and this is a proper way to achieve a sustainable world. Freeman (1994) is even more straightforward by writing that ââ¬Å"Corporation shall be managed in the interests of its stakeholders, defined as employees, financiers, customers, and communitiesâ⬠. In most strategic and business managing sources stakeholders are described as the individuals , groups and institutions most deeply interested in the business of the company and its results. The short list would include customers, competitors and suppliers, as well as administrative, social and political institutions. Ferrell (2004) considers that ââ¬Å"customers are key stakeholders that help establish the firmââ¬â¢s reputation and identificationâ⬠and later ââ¬Å"Understanding customer needs and wants and providing customers with high-quality products are the key to the companyââ¬â¢s success.â⬠An interesting issue is to discuss one specific group of stakeholders ââ¬â parents and family members. The Forbes columnist Scott Reeves (2005) cites M. Sophie Beckmann, a certified public accountant and certified financial planner atà A.G. Edwardsà in St. Louis to have said that "Responsibility increases with children" and that "You're now responsible for your spouse and the children. That means planning."à And we add: ââ¬Å"That means strategic plannin g.â⬠A family with three children will spent not less than 15 to 20 years being engaged in college-related topics and thus behavioral, money and housing issues. Consider a possible student loan from the U.S. government Direct Loan Program with 10 years repayment period (U.S. Department of Education, 2011) and then it makes a period of nearly 30 years. People from that group of stakeholders would be delighted to learn and know about a company like the American Campus

I am Intrigued with Psychological Research and College Instruction :: Graduate Admissions Essays
I am Intrigued with Psychological Research and College Instruction. Ã Having enjoyed psychology-related activities in both the academic and community settings, it is with enthusiasm that I pursue a career in clinical psychology. An important part of this pursuit is attending graduate school. In order to obtain the necessary knowledge and to define my areas of interest, I wish to enroll in a doctoral program in clinical psychology. Ã Throughout my undergraduate work I have engaged in a variety of activities to help prepare my for graduate study. One such activity is my involvement in research. This past summer I participated in a research project with a UNI professor, Dr. Augustine Osman. Our research involved the examination of the psychometric properties of the Pain Anxiety Symptoms Scale (PASS) in a community sample. I performed basic data entry and ran SPSS-X programs for manova, correlation, and reliability. For two to three hours a day, over an eight week period, my research experience involved discussions on issues of psychometrics as well as learning how to transcribe and run several programs used in factor analysis. Through this experience I have also become familiar with the process of research revision and publication. In fact, I will be listed as a co-author upon publication of this work. Ã Currently, I am involved in an independent research project investigating sex-role stereotyping in college classrooms. My advisor, Dr. Jane Wong, has been supervising by progress. After completing background reading on this issue, I have decided to investigate the relationship between students' sex-typed characteristics. I have developed six scenarios in which I manipulated the sex-typed characteristics of the instructor. Students will be asked to complete the Bem Sex Role Inventory and the Traditional Egalitarian Sex Role Scale (TESR) prior to reading a scenario. After reading the scenarios they will be asked to rate the instructor using a rating form developed by Leventhal, Perry, and Abrami (1977). I hope to present my findings at a regional psychology conference and, if possible, submit the work for consideration for publication. Ã Aside from conducting research, I also have had the opportunity to experience the teaching aspects of psychology while serving as a teaching assistant for a Research Methods course and an Introduction to Psychology course. As a TA for Research Methods my responsibilities included supervising five students' research work. Specifically, I assisted the students in the library while they worked on a bibliography, summary and synthesis, and proposal project.

Could Russia Have Defeated Japan in the Russo-Japanese War?
This essay will examine Russia's advantages and disadvantages pre-war, war and post-war that could have changed the course of history and enabled Russia to defeat Japan in the Russo-Japanese War. Russia, despite major advantages in resources, military personnel, naval forces, and strategic depth, lost the Russo-Japanese War to Japan, a rising power whose military strength and power were grossly underestimated. Why? What could Russia have done differently to defeat Japan in the war? Summarizing and analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of Russiaââ¬â¢s poor leadership, lack of strategic planning against Japan, and logistical differences will help clarify what it did wrong and what it could have done to defeat Japan in 1904. Diplomatic and economic factors before and during the war In 1854, Japan had reopened her doors to the United States, the United Kingdom, and Russian after 200 years of isolation from all Western powers, except the Netherlands (Koda 12). Of these powers, Britain and Russia had the strongest impact on the national security policy of the Japanese government. By the 1890s, given the growing competition among European Powers in Asia, Japan had begun to implement policies to increase the nationââ¬â¢s military and economic modernization. They recognized that failure to do so would lead to the ââ¬Å"nationââ¬â¢s dominance or dismembermentâ⬠by foreigners (Francis 1). Between 1888 and 1904, the Russian Empireââ¬â¢s economy was booming. As the financial heath of the government improved, it can be expected that the Minister of War would be allowed to share in this bounty. The Ministry was able to fund two discrete rearmament programs: the acquisition of magazine rifles and the introduction of the first quick-firing field artillery piece (Fuller 363). Both programs helped enhance and put Russia at an advantage in military readiness and innovation compared to other powers within the region. In 1894, Russia had a new Tsar in Nicholas II, who was ââ¬Å"young, dreamy and ambitiousâ⬠â⬠¦ and noted by biographers as ââ¬Å"a weak man and easily ledâ⬠(Fuller 370). Another important figure to Russiaââ¬â¢s government was Count S. Iu. Witte. Witte, the Minister of Finance, 1892-1903, rapidly became one of Nicholasââ¬â¢s most influential ministers in the early part of his regime as Tsar (Fuller 370). Witte was the prime mover of the Trans-Siberian and Chinese Eastern railroads, which allowed Russia to become a monopoly over resources and markets of Manchuria (Fuller 370). In March 1900, War Minister Kuropatkin delivered a speech in which he summarized the ways in which Russia had used its' military power in the past two hundred years and a series of predictions on upcoming challenges the nation would have to face. He argued that Russia ââ¬Å"neither needed nor desired war with any of the other Great Powers; it simply had nothing to gain by itâ⬠(Fuller 377). Yet, Russia was not a satisfied Power and in a report to the Tsar, Kuropatkin had to endorse the continued economic exploitation of Manchuria and the expansion of Russia influence in the East (Fuller 378). Moreover, Russia had concluded an alliance with China against Japan and, in the process provided the finance China needed in exchange for railway and industrial monopolies and won rights to extend the Trans-Siberian Railroad across Chinese-held Manchuria to the Russian seaport of Vladivostok, thus gaining control of an important strip of Manchurian territory (Warner 113). Unfortunately, the unfinished state of the Trans-Siberian railroad in 1904, logistical problems, and heavy costs meant only about 100,000 Russian troops and supporting units had been deployed to the Far East. However, this continuous crash collusion over the ââ¬Å"spheres of influenceâ⬠in Manchuria, Port Arthur, and finally in 1903 when Russia developed an economic interest in Korea further exasperated Japan (Koda 16). Start of the War The Russo-Japanese War took place from February 1904 to September 1905; it was a war that originated out of rival imperial ambitions of the Japanese and Russian Empires over Manchuria, Port Arthur, and Korea. The Russians had been pursuing a course of steady aggression and contrary to what Japan considered her ââ¬Å"vital interests and national honorâ⬠(Mahan 172). The Russians had countless chances to gain an advantage and a better diplomatic position over Japan. After negotiations back and forth concerning ââ¬Å"spheres of interestâ⬠between the two nations were not met and in Japanese eyes were ignored due to the arrogance of the Tsar; Japan severed diplomatic relations on 6 February 1904 (Answer. com). Late at night on the 8th of February, a force of Japanese torpedo boats entered into Port Arthur. Through the dense fog, they launched a surprise attack that not only surprised the Russian naval squadron, but also surprised the world. Only one ship, the Novik, was not caught entirely napping and was able to give chase (Warner 17). Three of Russiaââ¬â¢s biggest ships took severe hits: the cruiser Pallada, Retvizan and Tsarevitch (Warner 17). Russia was shocked and definitely not prepared! Although gunfire stirred some in the evening, many knew nothing of the attack until the next morning. Some had heard and assumed that the fleet had been carrying out exercises and few people ââ¬Å"expected that the first attack by Japanese- or any attack at all- would take place in Port Arthurâ⬠(Warner 17). Crafting a War Plan The Commander of Russiaââ¬â¢s Far Eastern Armies, General Kuropatkin was tasked with developing Russiaââ¬â¢s war plan; his idea was to deny Japan an early victory by alternating tenacious holding actions and strategic withdrawals in order to gain the time needed to bring thousands of additional troops from European Russia (Fuller 379). ââ¬Å"Inso far as possible,â⬠he wrote, ââ¬Å"our forces must avoid decisive engagements in order to escape being defeated in detail prior to concentration of forces sufficient for the defeat of the Japaneseâ⬠(Fuller 400). He expected the Japanese to invade Manchuria, they did; he anticipated that the Japanese would attack Port Arthur, they did; so, his plan was absolutely accurate and unquestionably foreboded the events that were about to unfold in this Russian nightmare. But no matter how intelligent or administratively talented Kuropatkin may have been, he committed the gravest of errors by underestimating his enemy. The Japanese army was highly motivated and trained and ready to implement their war plan. In an attempt to avoid war, Japan presented Russia with a treaty that would be relatively fair to both sides. Russia, to the surprise of no one, declined the terms and Japan was left with no choice other than to declare war. In July 1903 at pre-war negotiations, the Japanese Minister in St. Petersburg as instructed to present Russian Minister, Roman Rosen, with his countryââ¬â¢s views and desires. After the proposal, Russia provide a counter-proposal and Japan provided another proposal by which ââ¬Å"Manchuria would be outside the Japanese sphere of influence and, reciprocally, Korea outside Russiaââ¬â¢sâ⬠(Answers. com). One month later on 4 February when no formal reply had been received, Japan severed ties and went about achieving everything that they asked for at the pre-negotiations. According to Karl von Clausewitz, a renowned theorist of war, two parties need to want peace for a war to be terminated and both sides must be able to overcome internal and external oppositions to end the war. Because of Russian leadersââ¬â¢ incompetence, arrogance, and inability to respond promptly and compromise negotiations, Japanââ¬â¢s pre-war requests and Kuropatkinââ¬â¢s predictions of Japanââ¬â¢s war strategy were developing in what would be known in history as the Russo-Japanese War. Elements of the Land Campaign At the outbreak of the war, Russia had the world's largest standing army, but most of it was in Europe. The Japanese knew that Russia could not fully concentrate itsââ¬â¢ army in the Far East because ââ¬Å"it had to keep some forces in western Russia as a counter to Turkish, German, and Austrian forcesâ⬠(Koda 22). Russia was not ready for the war with Japan, and the Japanese knew it. All Japan had to do was concentrate itsââ¬â¢ forces in Manchuria and match the strength of Russian forces there. For the Japanese to establish superiority, they had to overcome their handicaps: shortage of strategic reserves, an insufficient stockpile of ammunition, and poor field heavy artillery (Koda 23). In order to overcome these handicaps, Japan had a well thought out operational plan and effective tactics on the battlefield, which yielded perfectly to the warfare of Manchurian plain. In my opinion, all Russia had to do was delay Japanese forces while they built up their strength in the west and bring forces south from the Chinese Eastern railway. Without the Trans-Siberian Railway to assist in reinforcing Russian forces, Russia would be left without ââ¬Å"a real plan of campaignâ⬠(Warner 319). Therefore, the longer the war went on, the more likely an eventual Russian victory would have been in a battle of industrial attrition due to the continuing flow of reinforcements along the railway. Synchronizing ground and naval efforts Japan had to deliver a severe blow before Russia had time to prepare and execute whatever war plan that they may have established. In the words of Admiral ââ¬Å"Bullâ⬠Halsey, Japan needed to ââ¬Å"Hit hard, hit fast and hit often. â⬠In March the Japanese landed an army in Korea that quickly overran that country. In May another Japanese army landed on the Liaotung Peninsula, and on May 26 it cut off the Port Arthur garrison from the main body of Russian forces in Manchuria. Russia needed to stop playing on the defense and start being on the offensive. With the help of reinforcements received via the Trans-Siberian Railroad, Russia continued attacks, but it proved indecisive owing to poor military leadership. An example of the Russianââ¬â¢s impotence in leadership occurred at the siege of Port Arthur. After believing that the purpose of defending the city was lost due to the defeat of the fleet, Major General Stessel decided to surrender his post without consulting the other military staff present, or the Tsar and the military command. All disagreed with his decision because the garrison was still well stocked and had months of food and ammunition. In 1908, Stessel was convicted by a court-martial and sentenced to death, though later pardoned for his offenses (Answer. om). More aggressive naval power The Japanese Combined Fleet was slightly superior to the Russian Pacific Fleet (Koda 22). Japan was at an advantage to Russia, because Russiaââ¬â¢s fleet had to be divided in two forces, one at Port Arthur and the other at Vladivostok (Koda 22). The fleets at Port Arthur and Vladivostok were also smaller and less ready, which left Russia's land and naval forces outnumbered at the start of the war. Japanââ¬â¢s strategy was to engage each force separately and prevent any Russian reinforcements. Japanââ¬â¢s Combined Fleet had to destroy the Pacific Fleet before the arrival of reinforcements and it was necessary for Admiral Togo ââ¬Å"to preserve his strength, to ensure that he had a fleet capable of destroying the reinforcements when they arrivedâ⬠(Koda 23). The Russian fleet in Port Arthur presented a menace to the sea lines of communication for Japan and was a determining factor of the war. The attack, although successful, was not executed as planned. It continued long enough to afford Russia the opportunity to bring into play her other naval forces from the west and if other circumstance would not have accorded, may have caused Japan their victory. For example, the Baltic Fleet was on its last leg of its 18,000 nautical mile journey to Vladivostok, when they were spotted by the Japanese Combined Fleet. The Baltic Fleet had been successfully traveling at night to avoid discovery. Unfortunately, one of her hospital ships exposed a light, which was sighted by a Japanese ship. The ship reported the sighting to Admiral Togo, who was able to position his fleet and engage in the battle of Tsushima. The Russian fleet was annihilated at Tsushima. If the Russian fleet would have positioned their cruisers, designed for speed and endurance, at Vladivostok, Russia would have had a better chance at counter-attacking Japanââ¬â¢s fleet. Unlike Port Arthur with only one way in and out, Vladivostok had two exits, to the Japan Sea and to the east coast of the islands by way of the Tsugaru Straits. The Japanese vessels out numbered the Russian vessels and they probably would have still picked off the Russian vessels one by one, but positioning the cruisers at another port would have allowed for continued freedom of commerce. Although this is an indirect effect to the war, it directly affected the already unstable economy and a growing rebellious status to war efforts in Russia. One of the most important things to remember is not just the multiple locations of the Russia fleets, but that they were divided into fractions individually smaller than those of a possible enemy. If the Russian divisions at Port Arthur, Vladivostok, and in the European ports of Russia would have been united, they would have outweighed the Japanese fleet; hence causing the Japanese fleet to re-evaluate their plan and possibly changing the course of the war. Additionally, Admiral Makarov, Commander of the Baltic Fleet, suggested that more ships should assist the Port Arthur and Vladivostok, but with his death a conference of the Higher Naval Board with the Tsar presiding was needed. For the next three months, the new commander, Admiral Rozhdestvenski, struggled with ââ¬Å"the inevitable tangle of Russian red tapeâ⬠and prepared his fleet for the long journey and they set sail in October of 1904 (Warner 402). The Baltic fleet should have been sent east the instant the Japanese declared war and would have arrived in ample time to assist and been able to provide much needed reinforcements and a more aggressive naval power. Conclusion Despite Russiaââ¬â¢s major advantages in resources, military personnel, naval forces, and strategic depth, they lost to an up and coming power, Japan. Furthermore, they could have negotiated out of starting a war, and never have been put in a situation that caused undue hardship on their ill-prepared naval and land forces. If it wasnââ¬â¢t for poor leadership, lack of strategic planning, and logistical differences, Russia could have defeated Japan in the Russo-Japanese War.

How to Conduct a Flame Test - 1174 Words
Flame Test Lab Your company has been contracted by Julius and Annette Benetti. They are worried about some abandoned, rusted barrels of chemicals that their daughter found while playing in the vacant lot behind their home. The barrels have begun to leak a colored liquid that flows through their property before emptying into a local sewer. The Benettis want your company to identify the compound in the liquid. Earlier work indicates that it is a dissolved metal compound. Many metals, such as lead, have been determined to be hazardous to our health. Many compounds of these metals are often soluble in water and therefore easily absorbed into the body. Electrons in atoms jump from their ground state to excited states byâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦BaCl was most likely present in the rock. 6. How would you characterize the flame test with respect to its sensitivity? Give a reason why the flame test is sometimes invalid. The flame test could possibly read invalid if there is still a trace of the previous substance still in the burner or if there is a trace of the substance in the current substance that is being tested. 7. Based on your results and observations would this method be practical to determine the metals in a mixture? If not, why not. Explain your answer. Based on my results and observations this method would not be practical to determine the metals in a mixture because you wouldnââ¬â¢t know which color is for which substance in the mixture. 8. Using the information learned about what color would you predict that copper nitrate would burn? Explain your answer. I think copper nitrate would burn at a blue/green color, because during the flame test copper burned at a blue/green color. 9. Some stores sell ââ¬Å"fireplace crystals.â⬠When sprinkled on a log, these crystals make the flames red, green, and violet. Explain how these crystals can change the flameââ¬â¢s color. What ingredients do you expect them to contain? These crystals can change the flameââ¬â¢s color because they contain different substances that burn at different colors. I expect the ingredients in them are Barium and Strontium. 10.
